Roger Pugh

Roger L. Pugh, age 69, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his home. He was born November 24, 1952, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Fred S. Pugh and Grace Viola Bright Pugh.

Roger graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1970. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served during the Vietnam War. Roger was a Sergeant and a rifle and pistol instructor during his enlistment. He was a former ironworker with Local 172 out of Columbus, Ohio. Roger was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 9092 of Wellston, the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, the Amvets Post 84 of Jackson and the Black Diamond Lodge 538 F&AM. Roger loved to tinker on everything. He enjoyed building and fabricating, hunting and fishing, and in his earlier years, farming and horses. Most of all, Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Brian Jason Pugh (Tami) of Wellston and Lucretia Pugh (Cody Turner) of Wellston; sisters: Linda Kay Roach (Dave) of Columbus and Patricia Ann Dempsey of Mississippi; brother, Frederick W. Pugh of Jackson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by parents: Fred “Dude” Pugh and Grace Viola Sisson; wife, Cheryl Ann Wells Pugh in 2013; brother, Clifford Pugh; and nephew, David Roach.

Calling hours will be Sunday, June 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with a Masonic service by Black Diamond Lodge 538 at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Griffith officiating.
