Morine Bentley Wright

By | June 20, 2022

Morine Bentley Wright, age 92, of Wellston, born to Sabrina and Martin Bentley in Millstone, Kentucky on December 7, 1929, passed away Friday June 17, 2022, after a valiant five-year battle with cancer. She was the last of their children remaining.

Morine married Sherman Andrew Wright on February 15, 1946. They were married for 60 years with most of those years spent at their home on Salem Road in the Wellston, Ohio area. Morine was a homemaker and gardener all of her life, but also worked outside the home for a time as a cook for the Fairgreens Country Club and cleaning homes for others. She enjoyed spending time working hard and sharing the fruits of her labor with others. Many who read this will have received vegetables from her garden or maybe (if you were lucky) some zucchini bread and homemade fudge lovingly baked and wrapped in her kitchen. She lived her life with strength, simplicity, and independence. She passed those attributes on to those who now go forward in her absence. Morine loved the Lord, and she is now residing in His care.

She is survived by her daughters, sons-in-law, and daughter-in-law, Anita and Jim Johnson of Wellston, Janet and Mike Jones of Wellston, Audrey and Mark Ballenger of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Billijean Wright of Vinton, Ohio.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her husband Sherman, Morine was preceded in death by her son, John Sherman Wright; her granddaughter, Kristi Ann Wright Ware, and Kristi’s husband, Johnny Ware.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A celebration of Morine’s life will follow at 1 p.m. with her grandson Thomas Johnson and family friend and Pastor Travis Potts officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.
