Virgie Tennant

Virgie Carlene “Budgie” Tennant, age 87, passed away peacefully in her country home on April 23rd, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 3rd, 1934, in Jackson Township, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughters: Dr. Patsy C. Tennant and Cheryl Brooks (Rick); son, Dale Tennant; granddaughters: Shannon Tennant (Dustin) and Neka Crabtree (Jennifer); great-grandchildren: Raegan Crabtree and Austin Crabtree; niece, Sandy (Preston) Mustard and Greg (Patti) Duncan; and special friends, Danielle (Tyler) Gillum. Carlene was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Tennant; daughter, Pamela Lee Tennant; her parents: Alva Ray Meacham and Susie Woodruff Meacham; sisters: Charlotte Kisor and Connie Meacham; nephew, Jeff Duncan; and daughter-in-law, Twila Kannause.

Carlene retired from Jackson City Schools in 1998 with thirty years of service as a school secretary. She also served as a Jackson Township trustee. Carlene grew up a farm girl and could outwork anyone. During summer breaks, she loved working in her flowers and gardens, canning and cleaning and sewing and quilting. She was a very wonderful, loving and caring mother.

As per her request, there will only be visitation, with graveside services immediately following. The family will receive guests at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson on Thursday, April 28th, 2022, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Mt.
