Goldie Delaney

Goldie Mae Delaney, age 98, of Defiance, Ohio and formerly of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away peacefully at The Laurels of Defiance on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born March 30th, 1923, in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Lewis and Myrtle Coon. In August of 1942, she married Paul Delaney, who passed away in 1989.

Goldie was a faithful member of the Old Country Church in Oak Hill until she moved North to be near her daughters and family. She worked several jobs during her lifetime, but she enjoyed being home and doing for her family and others the most. She will be remembered for being a very loving and caring person who never had a problem with anyone.  She was a great cook, especially her pumpkin pie and apple dumplings. Her loving nature never let anyone go home hungry or needing anything.

Goldie is survived by her daughters: Marlene (Buck) Cooper of Defiance, Ohio, and Judy (Larry) Marks Groves of Napoleon, Ohio; adopted grandson, Terry; sister, Easter Bell Cooper of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandchildren: Tony, Paula, Kevin, David, Chris, and Josh; great-grandchildren: Cindy, Kyle, Brandon, Jared, Brennan, Rachel, Mikayla, Grace, Maya, Hunter, Maddux, Sutton, and Bodhi; great-great-grandchildren: Talan, Miley, and Presley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Delaney; son, Larry David Delaney; grandson, Jed Cooper; sisters: Mildred Gillespie and Mabel Radabaugh.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at The Laurels of Defiance for the loving care they provided.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
