Martha Walburn

Martha Elizabeth (Colby) Walburn, age 87, of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 18, 2022, at her home. She was born in Jackson on January 30, 1935, to the late Ellsworth and Frances (Evans) Colby. 

She is survived by her three children: Debra (Bruce) McMurray, Pam (Greg) Hill and Keli (Jason) Massie; seven grandchildren: Kent (Amy) McMurray, Tess (Dennis) Kyser, Rachel (Brandon) Katzeff, Tyler Hill, Alivia, Cole and Chase Massie; seven greatgrandchildren: Madison, Lenna and Scarlett Kyser, Alyse and Mason McMurray, and Sara Kate and James Katzeff. Also surviving is her brother, Ellsworth Colby, Jr.; sister, Linda Tussing; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Dwight Walburn; sisters: Kathleen Yerian, Evlyn White, Pearl Bowman and Darlene DeLong; brother, Lamar “Tex” Colby.

Martha was a JHS graduate of 1953. She married the love of her life, Dwight, on June 29, 1953. She was a homemaker and homeroom mother. Her true passion was making crafts and she was a founding member of the Jackson County Craft Guild. She was co-owner of the Apple Attic. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and also attended Calvary United Methodist Church. Martha was V.P. and Treasurer of two camping clubs for many years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Garry Hogue officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
