Robert L. “Bob” Woods, age 73, of Chillicothe, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born May 28, 1948, in Jackson County, Ohio, to the late Albert E. Woods and Dorothy Grow Woods. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Green Beret who served during both the Korea and Vietnam Wars. He was a former truck driver for G&J Trucking in Chillicothe and a member of the American Legion Post in Chillicothe. To Bob, family was everything, and he enjoyed spending time with them and having hog roasts. He also enjoyed drag racing, as well as painting and working on cars.
Bob is survived by his children: Robert “Bob” Woods, Jr. (Angie) of Londonderry and Renee Wheatley (Dale) of Wellston; grandchildren: Josh Woods, Kyle Thoroughman (Nancy), Kelisha Bennett (Cody), Hannah Burner (Brett) and Austin Wheatley (Layne); siblings: Bonnie Dennison of Jackson, John Woods (Sandy) of Jackson, Janet Skaggs (Joe) of Jackson, Wilda Causey of Waverly and Rick Brown (Susie) of Port Charlotte, Florida; along with 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his stepfather, Glen Brown; and siblings: Jerome Woods, Emma Detillion and Gary Woods.
Calling hours will be Monday, February 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 8 at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Limerick Cemetery.
