Jane L. Bragg, age 76, of Jackson, passed away, Friday, January 28, 2022, in Gallipolis at the Holzer Hospital following complications from COVID. She was born in Jackson, Ohio on May 27, 1945, to the late James E. and Eva M. Borland Ridgeway.
She is survived by daughter, Deanna L. Bragg of Jackson, Ohio; son, Paul E. (Julie) Bragg II of Pataskala, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jhediah (Jake Backis) Bragg of Wellston, Ohio, Paul E. Bragg III (Trae) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jacob Mobley of Columbus, Ohio and Kyle Mobley of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, William (Clara) Ridgeway; sister-in-law, Edie Ridgeway; brother-in-law, Gene (Beverly) Bragg; sister-in-law, Carol Bragg; plus several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Jane had many close friends and children she thought of as “her grandkids” — AJ, Katie Jo and Kaylee to name a few, and her beloved pets, Buddy, LuLa Belle and Izzy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Bragg; sister, Doris Zickefoose; and brothers, Eddie and Gene Ridgeway; sister-in-law, Paula Ridgeway; brother-in-law, James Bragg; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Sis) Bragg.
She was a 1963 graduate of Jackson High School and loved watching her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Jane loved volunteering through the RSVP of Jackson and spent countless hours volunteering at the Markay Theater, where she was Volunteer of the Year in 2019. She loved to give tours of the theater and to share her extensive knowledge of the Markay’s history from its beginning as a local theater through its renovation and present-day use as a Cultural Art Center.
Jane was extremely active in her community and devoted her life to serving others and making the world a better place through love, kindness and compassion. She loved singing with her favorite group of singers, The Silver Serenaders, as they would travel to area nursing facilities and perform for and with the residents. Jane was very passionate about serving her community through different avenues through the years. She was a Girl Scout Leader, helped start a little majorette group (Rainbow Twirlettes) and would join in any endeavors her kids were involved in, from scouting to working in the park with Cultivating Our Future. Jane was also a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson where she served as a deacon and choir member.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 225 Church St. Jackson, OH. The family insists that masks be worn and social distancing be observed. The service will be a small, intimate family gathering with Pastor John Birkner officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cultivating Our Future, 172 W. Huron St. Jackson, OH 45640 or the Jackson Co.
