Ruth Maloney

Ruth Naomi (Vance) Maloney, age 98, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away October 7, 2021, at Bickford of Lancaster, Ohio. She was born in Gallia County, Ohio to the late David and Elizabeth (Crabtree) Vance on September 20, 1923. 

She was the youngest and last surviving of eight children. There were six boys and two girls. Her brothers were Harold, Kenneth, Cecil, Lois, George, Meredith and sister, Margaret, who passed away in infancy. 

She graduated from Jackson High School with honors in 1939 as the second youngest ever to graduate from the school. She was united in marriage in 1941 to Frank Maloney. They were in their 60th year when Frank passed away.

She was a Christian most of her life. She belonged to the Pilgrim Holiness Church, which later became Wesleyan. She was active in church, where she served as Sunday school teacher and youth leader. She and Frank later relocated to the Logan area, where they lived for 17 years, before moving to Lancaster in 1983. While they were still in the Logan area, they began to attend Faith Memorial, where they spent the rest of their days. She was retired from Ohio Power (now AEP).   

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and a sister, her husband, and her only child, Paul Maloney. She leaves behind her grandson, Ryan and her great granddaughter, Megan, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Buckeye Cemetery in Jackson. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.
