Wendy Sexton

Wendy Sue Butler Sexton, age 50, of Jackson, Ohio passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. She was born June 19, 1971, in Portsmouth, Ohio to David Kelly Butler and Linda Lou (Stapleton) Hanley.

Wendy was a 1989 graduate of Jackson High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the scholarship team. After high school, Wendy attended the University of Rio Grande and in 1993 received her bachelor’s degree in accounting. On May 26, 1995, she married the love of her life, Paul Vernon “Dusty” Sexton, Jr. Devoted to her husband and children, Wendy often served as the bookkeeper for businesses, sports and clubs that her family participated in. Wendy was an animal lover and even had a tame pet raccoon while in high school. She had a distinct way about her in that even the wildest of animals would become domesticated. Along with her commitment to her family, Wendy was employed by the City of Jackson as the Deputy Auditor for the last 23 years.

Besides her parents and husband of over 26 years, Wendy is survived by her children, Hunter Paul (Phoebe) and Holly Marie; grandson, Zayn Allen; sister, Kelley Moore; mother-in-law, Peggy Sexton; sisters-in-law, Pam (Jay) Martin and Angie Eisnaugle; brother-in-law, Jamey (Misty) Sexton; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding Wendy in death are her grandson, Storm Paul Sexton; siblings, Jeffery Shawn Butler and Michael Kelly Butler; father-in-law, Paul Vernon Sexton, Sr; and brother-in-law, Mike Eisnaugle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in honor of Wendy be made payable to Holly Sexton at PNC Bank, 160 Broadway Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640. In keeping with Wendy’s wishes, there will be no services. The family would like to thank the community for their love and support during this difficult time.
