Kimmie Mapes, Sr., age 79 of Southgate, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in the comfort of his home.
Born on Nov. 27, 1941 in Jackson, Ohio, he was the son of Kimbal and Audra (Stevens) Mapes, On June 27, 1960, he married Lynnda Reed in Jackson, Ohio. He began his career with DT&I in March 1967 and retired from CN Railroad as a foreman in January 2002. Kimmie enjoyed watching drag racing and working on cars. He restored a 1957 Chevy and worked on restoring many other cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lynnda Mapes; daughter, Misty Mapes; son, Kimmie (Becky) Mapes, Jr; grandchildren: Chad (Pakhshan) Brown, Danielle Crick, Elisha (Bobby) Freeman, Tiffany Mapes, Kimmie (Kelsey) Mapes III; and many great-grandchildren; brothers: Golan Mapes, Arthur Mapes and Alden Mapes.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 25 at 1 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.
