Sharon L. Mather Young

Sharon L. Mather Young, age 68, of Wellston, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She was born Jan. 1, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Arthur Gene Mather and Doris G. Thacker Mather. 

Sharon was a 1971 graduate of Wellston High School.  She was a former employee of  Kuppenheimer Pants Factory in Wellston, as well as Pillsbury, where she was employed for several years.  Sharon attended and was an active member of Freedom Chapel in Wellston.  She always loved talking and visiting with her family and friends, along with traveling and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. 

Sharon is survived by her son, Troy Young of Wellston; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Aleta Mather of Woodstock, Virginia; niece and nephew, Jaclyn Vest (Andrew)  and  Brett Mather (Monica); great-nephews, Lucas and Mateo; aunt, Lenora Wilcox of Chillicothe; along with several cousins and friends. 

Besides her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Warren G. Young, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Earl Williams; and several aunts and uncles. 

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Andy Rawlins officiating, and burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  For those choosing to attend the services, facial coverings are required inside the building along with the practice of social distancing.  For those unable to attend, Sharon’s funeral service will be livestreamed on the McWilliams Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
