Martha Katherine Sutcliffe

By | December 29, 2020

Martha Katherine Sutcliffe, age 93, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at Four Winds Nursing Facility in Jackson, Ohio.  She was born Nov. 22, 1927 in Wieshen, China, daughter of the late Dr. Everett and Lucy (Booth) Murray, who were serving as Presbyterian missionaries at the time.

Martha grew up in China until she was 13 years old when she returned to the United States.  She graduated from Wooster College in Wooster, Ohio, where she received a Bachelor’s degree.  Martha devoted her life to others.  She was always willing to help others and did whatever she could to help the less fortunate.  She was a kind, caring and patient woman who loved people and especially children.  She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and dedicated her life to helping others learn the loving promises of God from the Bible for over 60 years, serving 50 years of that time as a full-time evangelizer.  Martha was well known in the community for this work.

If you knew Martha, you knew a woman who believed in God’s promises of a resurrection of the dead to a life on a paradise earth in the future, of a time where there will be no more pain, suffering or death and of a time to welcome back our loved ones who have died.  Martha now rests in God’s memory and we anxiously await for these promises to be fulfilled to see her again.

She is survived by three sons, Harry (Denise) Sutcliffe of Wellston, Ohio, John Sutcliffe of New York, New York and James (Joelle) Sutcliffe of Big Pine Key, Florida; two brothers, Elliott Murray and Willis Murray; as well as many grandchildren.

A memorial service via Zoom will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
