Rena F. Potts

By | October 22, 2020

Rena went with her Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020 at her home.  She was born in Ironton, Ohio to the late George and Mary (Allen) Mahan on Feb. 27, 1962.  She was the youngest of three children. She loved her parents, and her brothers, Kenny and Tim.

She graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1980.  After graduation, she worked at the Campbell Mushroom Plant from 1983 until she retired in 2013.

She married the love of her life, Tim Potts on April 28, 1984.  He precedes her in death.

They had one amazing son who survives, Tim (T.J.) Potts, the other the love of her life.  He was always there when she needed him and she was so proud of the man he’s become.  Rena was a member of the Gallia Baptist Church and loved her church family.

Besides her son, she is survived by her brother, Tim (Sherry) Mahan, of West Portsmouth; special sister-in-law, Heather Jones; several nieces, nephews and a few very close friends: Joyce Moore, Bonnie Rider, Ruth Hoyt, Angie Harden and Sally Rawlins.

In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenny and nephew, little Kenny; grandparents, John and Minnie Mahan and Oakley and Elizabeth Allen; and several aunts, uncles and friends.

Rena enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church, and spending time with her brother, Tim and sister-in-law, Sherry on the porch.  She always enjoyed doing anything with her son, T.J.  She enjoyed fellowship with her church family and helping with church functions until her health wouldn’t allow.  She was a member of TOPS #OH1517, of Jackson and really enjoyed the meetings and her friends there.

Friends may call Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at the Gallia Baptist Church with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating.  Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery. Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, everyone is to wear a mask indoors and practice proper social distancing.
