Caroline Genevieve Thompson, age 96, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 at the Four Winds Community. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on Jan. 29, 1924 to the late James Walter Wilt and Katherine (Schwarts) Wilt.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Thompson on July 11, 1985; a son, Roy Whaley; a daughter, Mary Parker; a grandson, Markie Dempsey, Jr.; a great-grandson, Jason Doles; brothers: Roy, John, Jim and Ervin Wilt; and sisters: Betty Jennings, Helen West and Mary Wilt.

She is survived by her daughters: Joyce Walker (Glenn), Carolyn Whaley; daughter-in-law, Irene Whaley; and seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Caroline was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family, going to church at the Faith Ministries Center, birthdays, reunions, all kinds of festivities, cookouts and holidays with family. She loved to cook. She was a farm girl that loved to raise a garden and can vegetables.

She worked at General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, and retired from there after 20 years.

Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Jack Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home prior to the service on Monday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
