Paul D. Tucker

Paul D. Tucker, age 69, of Ray, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 2, 2020. He was born in Wellston, Ohio on April 29, 1951 to the late Herbert R. and Thelma (Tripp) Tucker.

Paul is survived by his wife, Penny D. (McGhee) Tucker; son, Benjamin (Heather) Tucker; daughter, Jenna (Bret) Price; step daughters, Kendra (Charles) Havlik and Katrina (Erik) Davis; grandchildren, Kelsey, Haley, Lily, and Cathryn; and step grandchildren, Treylan, Kenzie, Austin, and Ariana.

Also surviving are siblings, Bill Ghearing, Polly (Gene) Todd, Sue Smith, Ronnie Pittenger, Nancy Tennant, Emma Farney, Marilyn (Sarge) Coles, Kenny (Lisa) Pittenger, Mable Williams, Gene (Shari) Carpenter, Gary Pittenger, Joseph Pittenger, Adelynn VanAernum, and his father-in-law, Paul D. McGhee; brother-in-law, D. David McGhee; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy V. (Callahan) Tucker; biological parents, Wilma Burke Pittenger and Everett Wesley Pittenger; and siblings, Sue (Tucker) Johnston, Charles Pittenger, Rosie Pittenger and Robert Pittenger.

Paul was a graduate of Wellston High School in 1969. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandkids, and restoring old cars. He had a love for trains. He loved to tease, prank, and laugh with everyone.  

Paul was a previous member of the Jackson County Fair Board. Paul loved old cars, taking road trips in them, and telling tales about his travels. Paul was an active member of several old car clubs, including being a charter member of the Appalachia Old Car Club.

Paul worked on the B&O Railroad for 18 years, then went on to work at Merillat Industries, and retired from Adena Health System.

Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson on Tuesday, July 7 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Andy Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
