James Elwood Turner, age 86, of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born in Sciotoville, Ohio on Oct. 8, 1933 to the late Weldon and Salma (Freeze) Turner. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Grace, and a brother, Kenneth Turner.
He is survived by his children: James E. (Kathy) Turner and Brenda Turner; grandchildren: James and Lora Turner; and a sister, Shirley Robinson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Church of Christ in Wellston.
Funeral service will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Sunday, June 7 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. Due to COVID-19 recommendations from the Ohio Department of Health and the Jackson County Health Department, the wearing of masks and proper social distancing is highly encouraged.
