Lawrence “Larry” L. Blessing

Lawrence “Larry” L. Blessing, 82, of Wellston, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at his home. He was born on Feb. 26, 1938, in Letart, West Virginia, son of the late Benjamin and Wilda (Stewart) Blessing.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was a paratrooper. He formerly served as a volunteer firefighter on the Hamden Fire Department and was also on the rescue dive team.

Larry lived an active life. He enjoyed fishing, shopping at flea markets, visiting his family in Florida, reading western novels and watching them on T.V., and watching wrestling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Landen Faught. A member of the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church, Larry also like preparing for and attending the many potlucks, services, and other church gatherings. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy Blessing; children, Larry Blessing (Patty), Keith Faught (Debbie), Shanna Leach (Steve), Missy Jackson, and Lori Mitchell; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Brittany, Dylan, Aaron, and Landen Faught, Kelisha Wheatley, Brittany, Brett, Larry Lee, and Jennifer Blessing; several great-grandkids; sisters, Sandra Dalton (Jim) and Waneta Peirrantozzi; as well as several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Hope.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brett Blessing and his first wife, Joy.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church from 4 to 5 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Larry’s life will follow commencing at 5 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Fortner officiating. Military Honors will be observed following the services.

Due to the coronavirus and public health concerns, the family wants to do their part in keeping everyone safe and understands if the public chooses not to attend the services.
