Richard Kyle Kisor, Sr.

Richard Kyle Kisor, Sr., 64, of Wellston, Ohio, went home peacefully with his Lord, while surrounded by his family, on Tuesday evening, July 30, 2019, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, Dec. 14, 1954, son of the late Pearl E. Kisor and Erma Ernestine Spanable Kisor.

He was a 1973 graduate of Wellston High School and was employed by ODOT for 30 years as a highway maintenance worker #4. He was co-owner with his dad of Kisor’s Greenhouse in Wellston. In his spare time he coached little league boys’ and girls’ soccer, baseball, and softball. He was a member of the Wellston Lions Club, and was Santa on their Christmas float for several years. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, the Cincinnati Reds, and the OSU Buckeyes.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Kisor, and a niece, Erma Dawn Davis. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Sherrie Peyton Kisor, whom he married on May 31, 1975; a son, Richie (Kristin) Kisor, Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, April (Tracey) Kisor of Jackson; four grandchildren: Chandler Michael Kisor of Jackson, Tressa Lambert of Jackson, Carly Paige Ferguson ( Kyle) of McConnelsville, and Brooklyn Marie Case of Jackson; a sister, Mary Ann Sligar, of McArthur; a mother-in-law, Rea Peyton Croley, of Albany, Ohio; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Saturday from 4 until 8 p.m. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Jenkins Chapel with John Pelletier CLP officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston. The family suggests memorial contributions in Richard’s name be made to the Wellston Lions Club.
