George Allen Cook

By | November 16, 2018

George Allen Cook, age 66, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at his home. He was born March 9, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Violet May Cook.

George was a member of the Wellston High School class of 1970, and a veteran of the United States Army. George was a lifelong resident of Wellston, leaving his hometown only long enough to serve his country in the Army. He was a Christian, who faithfully attended Church on the Move in Wellston. George loved to tell you a story or call just to tell you a joke. He was a simple man, not needing much in the way of material things, but he found great joy in being able to give to others; even just a simple gift to those he cared about. We find great comfort in knowing that George is with his Lord and Jesus Christ and that he now has the home he always deserved. Goodbye for now George, see you again soon. George is survived by his closest friends and “family”, Bill and Terry Witt of Wellston, and the Witt family. He will also be greatly missed by his friends and church family at Church on the Move, as well as High Praise Ministries in Jackson.

Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 2 P.M. at Church on the Move/Fire Church in Wellston, with Pastor Billy Witt officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
