Ellen L. Potts

Ellen L. Potts, age 81, of Wellston, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born July 14, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Minor Leach and Julia Mae Humphreys Leach.

Ellen retired from Austin Powder, where she was employed for 18 years. Family meant everything to Ellen. Her pride and joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. Her kind personality was noticed by everyone who was around her. Her smile would light up a room and her funny personality kept everyone laughing. Ellen was always thoughtful of others and willing to help others less fortunate than herself. She loved her dog, Angel, and enjoyed taking care of her. Ellen attended Zion #3 Church in Wellston. She is survived by her children, Rick Leach (Sue) of Wellston, Judy Collins of Wellston, Lori Varney (Dwayne) of Stockdale, and Rondell Potts (Marcie) of Bolivar; grandchildren, Lisa Faber (Phil), Jennifer Vickers (Vince), R.J. Leach, Jessica Collins, Joseph Collins, Michelle Ray (Keith), Zack Varney, Eric Potts (Maria), Deserrae Potts, and Emma Potts; brother, Eugene Leach (Donna) of Wellston; sister, Roberta Reedy of Newark; as well as 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ronnie M. Potts in 2011; grandson, Josh Collins; and siblings, Rita Bishop, Sonny Leach, Mary Katherine Ward, and infant, Pearl O. Leach.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 A.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Byer Cemetery.
