Larry “Jay” Gillespie

Larry “Jay” Gillispie, 79, passed away peacefully after a long-term battle with ALS on Oct. 19, 2018 at The Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus, Ohio. Jay was born in Jackson, Ohio to Anna Margaret and William Henry Gillispie on Oct. 26, 1938. Jay was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Margaret Gillispie; sister, Margie Ann Smith; infant brother; and wife of 56 years, Edith Mae Gillispie.

Jay had a gift for being able to construct or fix anything he set his mind to. He retired from the City of Columbus Division of Water as well as the Carpenters Union where he was known for his quality carpentry work, loyalty and positive attitude.

He is survived by sister, Dottie (Rodney) Landrum of Jackson; sister, Linda (Mike) Johnson of Waverly; daughter, Stephanie (Dan) Davis of Groveport; son, Rex (Ronna) Gillispie of Williamsport; daughter, Jennifer (Phil) Fullerton of Bridge City, Texas; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
