Bethany Marie (Woolum) Caudill, 39, of Columbus Ohio, went to be with Her Lord at 1:56 am Saturday July 14, 2018, after a sixteen and a half year battle with Neuroendocrine Cancer.
Born in Gallipolis, OH, the daughter of Gene and Pat (Flood) Woolum, Bethany was raised to love God and all His creation. Bethany attended the Christian Life Academy and Jackson High School, where she developed a passion for music, drama, and science, and graduated as Valedictorian of Jackson High School’s Class of 1997. While attending College at the University of Rio Grande, Bethany was part of the Grande Chorale, where she met her husband and champion James Wesley “Jimmy” Caudill. Bethany graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Environmental Science in 2001, and returned to Rio after her cancer diagnosis to earn a degree in Medical Technology with the goal of contributing to research that would one day end cancer. Bethany was employed at the The Ohio State University Arthur G James Cancer Hospital in the Cell Therapy Lab, where she was able to help patients find their cure. Bethany was an active member of the Columbus Music Scene, with her band The Clarence Light Orchestra, and sang praises to God as a member of the worship team at the Grove City Church of The Nazarene. Bethany organized a charity fundraising concert, Country For A Cure, that to date has raised $10,000 for Neuroendocrine Cancer Research and Patient Education at The Ohio State University. Bethany was known by everyone for her bright smile, her beautiful voice, and her passionate caring soul. Of all of the accomplishments in her life, Bethany considered her greatest as that of the birth of her precious son Waylon Reed Caudill.
Bethany is survived by her husband, Jimmy Caudill and son, Waylon Reed, her parents, Gene and Pat Woolum, her sister, Amy (Courtney) Hutchinson, her nephews, Caleb and Josh Hutchinson and Jamie and Aengus Montgomery, and her special niece, Emily Marie Hutchinson, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and friends that she held dear to her heart, and a very special friend and band mate, Jesse Keith Edwards.
Bethany was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hellen Flood, Ted Flood, George Woolum, and Garnet Woolum, aunts, MaryAnn Pauley, and Rita McKibben, and cousin, John Woolum Jr.
A Celebration of The Life and Testimony of Bethany Marie Caudill will be held on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at Elevate Ministries in Jackson Ohio. The family will welcome friends, family, and guests from 2:00 pm until 6:00 p.m. with the Celebration Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation at the WesBanco Jackson Main Street Office toward the newly formed Bethany Woolum-Caudill Scholarship Fund, which will be awarded to Jackson High School students who share Bethany’s passion for music.
Though Bethany may not be with us on this earth, we rejoice in knowing that one day we will see her perfect body and hear her voice again in Heaven.
