Jane (DeBusk) Romeo, age 90, of Jackson, passed away early Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Hilliard, Ohio. She was born September 10, 1927 in Saltville, VA to the late George and Kathleen DeBusk. In addition to her parents, her husband John Romeo of 39 years preceded her in death in June of 1984, along with her brother George.
Jane grew up in Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains on a large family farm. After graduating from Rich Valley High School, she attended college at Bluefield College. While attending college, she met her future husband John Romeo. They married in 1946 in Kimball WV, where they soon thereafter started their family.
Jane is survived by her four children, Kathy (Greg) Jones, John L. Romeo Jr., Anna (Mike) Biggs, Alanna Balog, (fiancé Jon Rice). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, John (Lisa) Romeo III, Jeremy (Angela) Romeo, Courtney Romeo, Christopher Romeo, J, Michael Biggs, Evan Matthew Biggs, Carlie K. Biggs, Jane Balog and Julia Balog and Travis (Kristi) Jones; 5 great grandchildren and one sister, Peg Wright.
Jane and John moved to Jackson in 1972. During her life in Jackson, she was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Garden Club, Wranglers Line Dancing Club, Holy Trinity Alter and Rosary Society, Jackson County Board of Elections and the Southern Hills Arts Council. She enjoyed her work as a legal secretary for William Slavens, William Cole, the Jackson County Commissioners and Winnie Blair.
She enjoyed playing bridge, line dancing, sewing, cooking and gardening. Her passion was her beautiful flowers and the many crafts she made with her pressed flowers. She enjoyed many wonderful years spending time with and vacationing yearly with her family and grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Upon her retirement, she attended many of their school and life functions, sharing her love and wisdom with them all. Her love for her family, friends and grandchildren was incomparable and she left a lasting impact upon us all. She spent the last 2 years of her life in Columbus with her daughter and son, Mike and Anna. She often said she had lived a fairy tale life and she thanked God every morning for a beautiful day.
Her beauty, grace, love and compassion will live on forever.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will follow Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jackson with Father Nicola Ventura officiating.
