Kristina Lucille (Barry) Cookson

By | May 25, 2018

Kristina Lucille (Barry) Cookson died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Kristi was born Dec. 14, 1985 in Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia to the late Tommy E. and Vicki (Sturgill) Barry.

Kristi was the second child and her beauty radiated even at that newborn age. She was headstrong and determined yet loving and kind. Her struggles in life made her stronger and she often made difficult choices to ensure that someone she loved was in a better state than what she could have made for them.

She graduated from Oak Hill High School and then went on to Rio Grande College where she studied Pharmacology. Kristi was an amazing artist whose talent was not taught, it was simply a gift from God. She leaves her art work in the form of tattoo on many of her family and friends.

Kristi had two children, Austin Alexander Wright (10) and Tommy Layne Wright (7). She recently married a longtime sweetheart, Curtis Cookson and planned to live out her days by his side. She was blessed with four nieces, Allison Barry, Abigail Barry, Kristina Lilly Barry and Emily Barry; two nephews, William Adkins and Elijah (Frankie) Adkins. She also leaves behind step-siblings, Jasmine Parsons, Kayla Oliver and Aaron Sturgill and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss her very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy E. Barry II, and two unborn children.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 29, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
