Lucille “Lucy” Beatrice Hutchison, age 92, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. She was born on April 9, 1925, the fifth of nine children born to Bill and Elta Downey who had a family farm southeast of Jackson.

Lucy grew up and married Harry Hutchison with whom she made a life and raised two sons. Harry’s mother had passed away when he was very young, then shortly after they married, his father became very ill. Lucy and Harry took him into their home and cared for him until he passed away.

Lucy and Harry moved to Mansfield, Ohio where she worked as a waitress and as a quality control inspector at Therm-o-disc Inc. After Harry suffered a stroke in 1985, they moved back to their hometown of Jackson and Lucy cared for him until he passed in 1994.

In addition to Harry, Lucy was preceded in death by her oldest son, Michael; her brothers, Russell, Willard, Gerald, William Jr., and her sisters, Nellie, Violet and infant Geraldine.

She is survived by her youngest son, Paul (Karen) Hutchison of Mansfield; one brother, Marvin Downey of Jackson; and four grandchildren, James (Mary) Hutchison of Groveport, Lori (Shannon) Hutchison of Phoenix, AZ, Deborah Hutchison of Carrolton, Ohio and Kevin (Gina) Hutchison, of Bellville, Ohio. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Lucy will be remembered as being very selfless and sweet. She was very giving and always looking for ways to help others. She enjoyed growing flowers and working outside; she also loved animals, always having a houseful of pets. One of her true joys was being with her family.
