Gertie Marie (Hall) Ousley

By | February 8, 2018

Gertie Marie (Hall) Ousley went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on Jan. 27, 1946 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late George and Gertie Hall.

She is survived by three children: Stephanie (Greg) Grimes, Bob (Ginger) Ousley, and Nancy Ousley; seven grandchildren: Brianna Adams, Kelsy (Mark) Staten, Devin (Jonna) Johnson, Trevor (Ashley Eakin) Arthur, Samantha (Garrett Compston) Ousley, Rylee Grimes, and Carolyn Snyder; six great-grandchildren: Kaiden Adams, Maddison Staten, Devon Adams, Sophia Staten, Ronan Fisher, and Emilia Snyder; sister-in-law, Bonnie Hall; brother-in-law, Tommy Ousley; along with many nieces and nephews.

Gertie was a 1964 graduate of Wellston High School. She was involved in many things in the community, including the Lioness Club, Silver Sneakers, The Red Hat Society, and The Silver Serenaders.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Bobby Joe Ousley Sr.; brothers: John, Don, Dan, Elwood, Virgil, and Steve Hall; and sister, Nellie Evans.

If we had 100 decades it would still not be enough time to describe to you who Mom and Mamaw was to us; we can however tell you that she spent her days teaching her great-grandchildren bad habits while denying it with her ornery smile, doting on her adored pets, loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and desperately missing the love of her life. She loved to travel and go on adventures. The ocean was truly her happy place. But above all Gertie loved the Lord.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will begin immediately after at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jack Hughes and Pastor Russ Strange officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
