Dorothy Ann Ray

Dorothy Ann Ray, age 89, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born February 5, 1928 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Raymond K. Brammer and Hazel B. Nye Brammer.

Dorothy, a 1946 graduate of Jackson High School, was a homemaker who enjoyed making crafts, needlework and reading. She was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston and a former member of the Chase Chapter #162 Order of the Eastern Star and the Jackson Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard Ray of Crofton, Maryland, Rebecca Jaycox (Dick) of Wellston, Steven Ray (Denise) of Columbus and Jana Ray of Wellston; grandchildren, Joshua Profitt of Wellston and Nathan Ray of Richmond, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Aaron Profitt and Evelyn Ray; sister, Nancy Brammer of Jackson; and Dorothy’s little dog, Willie.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Duane Ray in 2008; daughter-in-law, Sandra Ray; and her brother, Darrel Brammer.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev. Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
