Vernol Salyers

Vernol Salyers, age 84, of Waterloo, Ohio passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at Four Winds in Jackson. He was born in Bruin, KY on Jan. 6, 1933, to the late George and Madge (Johnson) Salyers.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Salyers, of Waterloo; son, Tony (Eloise) Salyers, of Oak Hill; two grandchildren, Chad McCain and Deidra Miller; two great-grandsons, Reid and Brady McCain; siblings, Nigel Salyers, of Greenup KY, Agnes Gullett, of Ashland KY, Drexel Salyers, of Patriot, OH and Dwight Salyers, of Xenia, OH. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel (Jarvis) Salyers; sister, Diana Salyers; and brother, Bruce Salyers.

Vernol was an independent trucking owner/operator. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in Korea.

Friends may call Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Friday with Pastor Leo Ison of Ashland, KY officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery with military graveside services.
