Melba Sue Evans

Melba Sue Evans, of Oak Hill, passed away at Heartland of Jackson on Oct. 12, 2017. Sue was born in Oak Hill on May 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Willard and Ella (Hughes) Snyder. She was a 1946 graduate of Oak Hill High School and retired from R.J. Reynolds.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Evans, of Oak Hill; grandson, Brian (Melinda) Evans, of Newport News, Virginia; great-granddaughters, Nikki (Dustin) Barker, of Wilkesville and Kayla Gray, of Oak Hill and great-great-grandchildren, Malaki and Hunter Barker, Kylan Strickland and Tatum Hanson. Also surviving is her sister, Juanita Parker, of Brazoria, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Evans; son, Myron Evans; great-great-granddaughters, Ileigh and Kinslee Hanson; brothers, Wilfred, Delmar, Ora and Roy; and sisters, Garnet, Viola, Jesta and Norma.

Friends may call Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
