Grace Louise Spriggs Martin (“Granny”), 88, of Tuppers Plains, Ohio, entered Heaven’s gates on Oct. 2, 2017, at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Jackson, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence and Lora Mae Harrell Spriggs. Grace was a coach’s wife, married and devoted to Richard C. Martin. He preceded her in death in 1997. Grace enjoyed her family, painting, visiting, sharing stories, and taking care of and singing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Helen (Dennis) Newland of Tuppers Plains, Ohio, and her son, Michael Martin of Ohio; two sisters, Mary Balzer and Patricia Maridian; six grandchildren, Pat (Penny) Newland, Mike (Melissa) Newland, Shawn (Laurie) Martin, Cody Martin, and Leah Martin; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Bryce, Brielle, Abigail, and Gauge Newland and Jackson and Ashton Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lora Mae Spriggs; husband, Richard Martin; and sisters, Doris Daniels and Joyce Bosley.
Grace’s wishes were honored and no funeral services were held. Her family privately celebrated her life and memory. She will be remembered in every tomorrow and remain forever in their hearts.
