Eileen A. Walker

Eileen A. Walker, age 87, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at Four Winds Community in Jackson, Ohio. She was born March 3, 1930 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Truman E. Souders and Elizabeth Marie Ghearing Souders.

Eileen was a 1948 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who was a former secretary at Oths, Foley and Heiser in Wellston and then continued her secretarial skills at the Athens Mental Health Center in Athens.

She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston. She attended the Wellston Senior Citizens group where she enjoyed making quilts for the military veterans both overseas and here at home. Eileen enjoyed sewing, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and faithfully attending and being involved with her church.

She is survived by her children, Jim Walker (Shirley) of Wellston, Peggy Heeter (Robert) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Richard “Dick” Walker (Kelly) of Wellston; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and brother, William Souders of North Carolina.

Besides her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Walker in 1976; her sister, Marilyn Jane Souders; and an infant brother, Roger.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
