Dwight A. Pugh

Dr. Dwight A. Pugh, Ph. D., age 77, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1940 in Glen Roy, Ohio, son of the late Clifford and Stella Poole Pugh.

Dwight was a 1958 graduate of Wellston High School and furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate Degree in Psychology from the Ohio University. Dr. Pugh retired as a Professor of Finance at Ohio University in Athens. He was a well-known businessman in both the Athens and Wellston areas, having owned and operated several businesses over the years including The Baron Men’s Shop, Porter House Restaurant and Harvey’s Sports Bar, to name a few.

He is survived by sister-in-law, Ellen Pugh of Chillicothe, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Climer, Fred “Dude” Pugh, George Pugh, Bob Pugh, Gerald Pugh, Dave Pugh, Wilma Jean Pugh, and an infant sister, Eileen Pugh.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with John Pelletier, CLP officiating.
