Michael Dee Sheeter, Sr., age 69, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017. He was born Feb. 21, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Dwight S. Sheeter and Dorothy L. McFarland Sheeter Haines.
Mike was a 1965 graduate of Lynchburg High School and was a member of the Army National Guard. He retired from GTE North, where he was employed for 29-1/2 years. Mike was a member of the National Rifle Association, Jackson County Cattleman Club, Jackson County 4-H Livestock Committee, and he was a 4-H leader for several years. Mike enjoyed farming and hunting, but nothing compared to the time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Penny L. Holp Sheeter; daughter, Jenna L. Bowman (Steve) of Jackson; son, Michael D. Sheeter, Jr. (Jennifer) of Jackson; grandchildren, Max Bowman and Blake, Ava and Tyrus Sheeter; sisters, Patricia Sheeter of Beavercreek and Nancy Sheeter Sheely of Lima; mother-in-law, Norma L. Holp of Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Dobie Wyant officiating. Following the service on Saturday, there will be a public visitation at the McWilliams Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m.
