James W. “Jim” Holtz

James W. “Jim” Holtz, age 75, of Hamden, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at his home. He was born Sept. 18, 1941 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late James Christopher Holtz and Nadine Virginia Ogle Holtz.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Wellston High School and a veteran of the United States Army who served in Turkey. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, where he was employed for 39 years. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 371 in Wellston and was a board member of the Vinton County and Jackson County Water Company and the Jackson-Vinton Community Action. A car enthusiast, Jim enjoyed classic cars and attending car shows, along with watching western movies on TV.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Scull Holtz; two daughters, Amanda Jones and Heather Holtz, both of Flat Rock, Michigan; three grandsons, Blake Jones, Sean Julio and Tyler Black; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Connie Holtz of Wellston; brother-in-law, William Scull of Buffalo, New York; sister-in-law, Nancy Seiwell of Niagara Falls, New York, as well as several nieces nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosemary Janey and Kathy Hively.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. with Pastor Dave Kelly officiating and military honors by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation will follow the service and placement of the ashes will be at the convenience of the family in Ridgewood Cemetery. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
