Billy J. Woods, age 78, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born in Chillicothe on Oct. 26, 1938 to the late Pete and Mary (Hill) Woods. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roy Woods and a brother, Tom Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Stella (Chandler) Woods; sons: William Woods (Liz Chandler) and Mike (Patty) Woods; and daughters: Kelly Woods (Kevin Logan), Sandy (Wayne) Harrell, Mary Jane (Jeff) Wilson and Pattie (Rich) Hughes. Also surviving are his brothers: David, Joe and Johnny Woods, and his sisters: Geraldine Butcher, Katherine Sanford and Stella Bolar. Eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Billy was employed by the City of Jackson for many years, working at Fairmount Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, Dec. 16 one hour prior to the funeral service from 12 to 1 p.m. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. with Pastor Steve Mathews officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
