John A. Bethel, age 57, of Waverly and formerly of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his home in Waverly. He was born June 1, 1959 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Peggy (Kearns) Rowe and the late Robert Bethel.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Bill Rowe; sisters: Carla Bethel, Fran Bethel-Forshey, Jeannie Marshall (Brooke); a brother, Robert Michael Bethel; best friend, Chuckie Demint; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Bethel; twin brother, James Bethel; and brother, Timothy Bethel.
John was a graduate of the Jackson High School Class of 1978. He retired from the United States Air Force as a firefighter after 20 years of service. He lived on the river and loved to fish.
