Michael E. “Mike” Brown

Michael E. “Mike” Brown, age 55, of Jackson, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Mike was being treated at Ohio State University’s Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, for heart complications when he suddenly passed. He was born December 13, 1960 to Walter H. Brown and Emma Barbara Brown, who preceded him in death.

Mike, a lumberjack by trade, was a 1979 graduate of Jackson High School, a 1979 graduate of Buckeye Hills Career Center in their Forestry, Logging and Sawmill Program, and then went on to receive a degree in Forestry from Hocking Technical College. He was a former member of the Vision Baptist Church, and presently a faithful and loved member of the Freedom Baptist Church, both in Jackson. He was always faithful to help with various church duties.

Mike was a true artist who loved to draw and paint. His church, Freedom Baptist, proudly displays Mike’s Biblical art work. Among other pastimes and hobbies, Mike really enjoyed playing the drums.

He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Sheets-Thompson of Jackson; grandchildren, Naikyla M. Sheets, Makiersten J. Thompson and Alexis T. Thompson; brother, James H. Brown; sister, Phyllis A. McManus; special friend, Chris; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving church family.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery.
