Jerry W. Denney, Sr.

Jerry W. Denney, Sr., age 81, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born January 1, 1935 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late George W. Denney and Addie Caton Denney.

Jerry, a retired coal miner, was a former employee of Meigs Mine #3. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean Conflict. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston and the V.F.W. Post 9092 in Wellston. He enjoyed fishing and sitting and spending time with his dog, Max.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Darrell Denney of Wellston, George Denney of Jackson, Jeff Denney (Janetta) of Wellston and Tom Denney (Jackie) of Jackson; step-daughter, Shannon Shoemaker (Joe) of Frankfort, along with 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Mark Ducote, Jerry Denney, Jr. and Brenda Whiting; grandson, Keith Denney; and brother, Terry Denney.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dick Moore officiating.
