Carmel W. Littlejohn

Carmel W. Littlejohn, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016, at the Edgewood Manor of Wellston. He was born May 9, 1924 in Wellston, Ohio to the late George N. and Bessie Green Littlejohn.

Carmel was retired from the United States Marine Corps with 20 years of active service. He was also the former owner of Littlejohn’s Shell Station in Wellston for 17 years. Carmel was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, the VFW Post 9092 of Wellston and the Fleet Reserves of Dayton.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Benson Littlejohn; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Frank Keck of Wellston; grandsons, Dan Keck (Melissa) of Logan and Philip Keck of Temperance, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Levi, Logan and Emma; brother, Donald Littlejohn of Wellston; and niece, Donna Farley of Pennsylvania.

Besides his parents, Carmel was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Littlejohn and his sister, Mabel Littlejohn.

In keeping with Carmel’s wishes, his body was cremated and a private burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be given to Heartland Hospice, P.O. Box 400, Lucasville, Ohio 45648.
