Raymond Clarence Childers

Raymond Clarence Childers, age 88, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at the James Cancer Center of Columbus, Ohio. He was born November 22, 1927 in South Webster, Ohio to the late Joseph and Bertha (Henson) Childers.

He is survived by his sons: Ray, Ed, Doug, and John Childers; daughter, Jeanie Palmer; nineteen grandchildren, with two living at home, Michael Childers and April Burkhead; several great-grandchildren, with one living at home, Kylan Childers; two siblings, Maxine Harron from Virginia and Joan Garrett from Texas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Wallace) Childers; three children: Linda, Becky, and Joe; and ten siblings.

Raymond was retired from the Gunning Refractory in South Webster, Ohio. He loved gardening, little league baseball, college football, professional wrestling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 12th, 2016 from 4-8pm at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at 1pm with Pastor Stan Howard officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Webster Cemetery.
