Irene D. Brown, age 83, of Wellston, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was born September 20, 1932 in Ray, Ohio, the daughter of the late Fred Knox and Hazel Seymour Knox.
Irene retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Jackson where she was employed for 15 years. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Coalton.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Gene ) Glover of North Carolina, Calvin Brown of Glen Roy, Kathy Kuhn of Glen Roy, Wanda Brown of Jackson; step-children, Judy Harris of Westland, Mich. and Susie (Mike) Dempsey of Florida; sisters, Bonnie Caldwell of Orient, Gladys Griffin of Xenia, Sharon Massie of Wellston; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Brown and special niece, Jean (Sis) Sandlin; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill Brown in 1985; sons, Randy Brown and Roger Brown; step-child, Danny Brown; brothers, Carl Knox and Gerald Knox; and sisters, Joan Byers and Pauline Fain.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Roy Cemetery.
