Celia Margaret (McCain) Nance

Celia Margaret (McCain) Nance, age 98, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Friday, November 20, 2015, at Holzer Assisted Living of Jackson. She was born August 11, 1917, in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Fred and Nora (Humphrey) McCain.

She was a faithful member of Monroe Chapel Church in Oak Hill, Ohio. She enjoyed singing and playing guitar at church and at Holzer Assisted Living. She was a seamstress, and over the years she has baked numerous cakes, pies, and bread for weddings, birthdays, and other occasions. She was also a Rosie the Riveter during World War II, working on the wings of war planes.

She is survived by her children, Phylalis (Robert) Christian and Teresa (David) Tope; grandchildren: Beth (Randy) Cole, Gwen (Brian) Smith, Bruce (Alice) Christian, Nicole (Kyle) Holland, and Candice (Bryan) Phillips; great-grandchildren: Justin (Michelle) Cole, Derek (Megan) Cole, Landon (Abby) Cole, Alexia (Derek) Necessary, Halley (Ian) Zupan, Brittani (Michael) Durr, Nathaniel Smith, Alyssa (Samual) Walker, Amelia Christian, Daniel Christian, and Mason Holland; great-great grandchildren: Owen Cole, Liana Cole, Aralyn Cole, Brenna Cole, Paige Cole, Sonnet Necessary, Hollis Necessary, Marlowe Zupan, and Eli Durr; siblings, Estel McCain, Forest McCain, Vergie Smittle, and Marvin McCain; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Nance; and siblings: Albert McCain, Melvin McCain, Lenzy McCain, Neva Kisor, Beulah Morgan, Wilma Thomas, Lawrence McCain, Jessie Boggs, and Fred McCain; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 23, from 4-8 p.m. at the Lewis and Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hil. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, at 11am with Justin Cole officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery.
