Alma Geraldine “Geri” Smith Harrison

Alma Geraldine “Geri” Smith Harrison, 86 ,of Jackson and formerly of Oak Hill passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at her daughter’s residence. She was born June 19, 1929 in Blackfork, Ohio to the late John Hellard and Ruby Violet (Woodruff) Canter.

Geri worked at Goodyear, and then later at Heartland of Jackson and Jenkins Nursing Home as a Nurse’s Aide.

She is survived by children: Joyce Roseberry of Oak Hill, Donna (Michael) Hunt of Jackson, Roger (Julee) Smith of Jackson, and Larry (Linda) Smith of Oak Hill; step-son, Robert (Carolyn) Smith of Mogadore; two brothers: Howard (Jane) Canter of Chippewa Lake, and Bill (Lora) Canter of Carlisle; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special friends, Melody (Shane) Meldick and their seven children; as well as numerous other family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: Harold “Gene” Smith and Charles “Freck” Harrison; three sisters: Jane Moss, Judy Mann, and Ruby Canter; brother, John Canter; daughter, Shirley Smith; and two grandchildren, Heather Darnell and Violet Fairchild.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Heartland Hospice team for the care they provided.

 Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, at 1p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Blackfork Cemetery.
