Jean Mourning Stewart

Jean Mourning Stewart, age 98, of Jackson, passed away at her residence on Friday, October 9, 2015. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on July 23, 1917 to the late George and Clada (Kessler) Shank.

Jean is survived by her son, Don Mourning (Rebecca McGhee), two grandchildren: Don (Pamela) Mourning and Melissa Bachtel and three great-grandchildren: Kelsey Bailey, Cole Bachtel and Caden Creech. Also surviving is her very special friend and caregiver, Donna Harrison, and nieces: Ruth Chaney, Cheryl Lynn Zimmerman and Patricia Lynn Zimmerman, and nephew George “Bud” Reeves.

She was the owner of Mourning Office Supplies, a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, B.P.W., Eastern Star and the Chamber of Commerce. She loved boating and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio with Diaconal Minister Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Sunday, October 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
