Cathy M. Dalton Essman, age 64, of Wellston, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at her home. She was born June 15, 1951 in Wellston, Ohio to the late James F. Dalton and Bertha M. Wiseman Dalton.
Cathy was a 1969 graduate of Wellston High School, as well as a graduate of Hocking College, where she received a degree in Secretarial Science. She was retired from the Wellston City Schools, where she started as a school bus driver for three years before working as a secretary at Coalton School for 13 years. She then went on to become the head secretary at Wellston High School, from where she retired.
Cathy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston. She enjoyed cooking, reading cookbooks and watching cooking shows on T.V. She was the “Paula Deen of Wellston”.
Cathy is survived by her children, James Essman (Tera) of Chillicothe and Holly Essman (John Zamer) of Wellston; her granddaughter, whom she adored, Larrin Essman; and brother, Carroll Dalton of Cincinnati.
Besides her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Artie” Essman.
Calling hours were held Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. The funeral service followed at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with John Pelletier, CLP officiating. Burial was in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
