John R. Davy

John R. Davy, age 73, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his home. He was born February 13, 1942 in Dennison, Ohio, the son of the late Robert R. Davy and Helen A. Skinner Davy.

John was a coal mine electrician, having formerly worked for Y&O Coal Company in Cadiz; Meigs #1 Mine in Wilkesville; and then later retired from Addington Resources in Ashland, Kentucky. He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston, and he loved fishing, was an avid sports fan for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburg Steelers, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deloris D. Fanti Davy; son, Alan R. Davy of Wellston; daughter, Cristine K. Hall of Wellston; grandchildren, Ryan Darnell, Vincent Davy and Carissa Darnell, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Davy Hunt.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Sts, Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Donald Maroon officiating. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation will follow the service and private burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
