William R. “Bill” Jenkins

William R. “Bill” Jenkins “Homey”, age 64, as he was known to his biker friends. Ended his earthly bike ride unexpectedly Sunday, June 28, 2015. Born to ride on May 26, 1951 in Oak Hill to the late Spurgeon and Patricia Jenkins.

He was an OHHS graduate, a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, and a member of the American Legion. He was employed as a truck driver for JVC scrap metal on Oak Hill.

Bill (Homey) lived life to the fullest. He was a friend to all he knew and all who knew him. He was always there when anyone needed him to help in any way he could.

He leaves behind two sons, Steve (Kelli) Jenkins, Bobby Jenkins; one daughter, Julie Rees; four grandchildren that meant the world to him, Stephanie Howell, Daniel Rees, Nicholas Jenkins and Brenlee Jenkins; two sisters, Eloise (Tony) Salyers, Sherrie (Randy) Watson, and one brother, Greg Jenkins, all of Oak Hill; sister-in-law Thelma “Sue” Jenkins; special lifelong friend, Marvin Sharp, of Texas; and his beloved dog, Harley, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Jenkins and infant brother, Spurgeon Jr.

Although his biker journey on Earth has ended. His eternal ride has just begun, so ride on Bill “Homey” for us all.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Pastor Bryon Carmon officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Disabled American Veterans Post #45 of Jackson. Friends may call Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
