Julius Charles “Charlie” “Chief Running Foot” Monk

Julius Charles “Charlie” “Chief Running Foot” Monk, age 65, a resident of the Oak Hill area for many years, passed away at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on June 25, 2015 following a brief illness. Julius was the son of the late John and Rose Shelton Monk. His paternal grandparents were the late John H. Monk and Frona (Beaver) Monk. His maternal grandparents were the late Julius and Evelyn (Sharp) Bloomfield. He enjoyed tracing his Native American culture, since three of his grandparents were Native American. Julius was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one son, Dennis Ray and one grandson, Michael Ray. He is survived by two brothers, four sisters; his children, Mandy (Todd) Moore, Amy Monk (Bob Woods), and John (Ryan) Monk; grandchildren, Shyann Leonard, Johnathan Monk, Kortny Leonard, Clayton Woods and Nathaniel Monk. He is also survived by two aunts, one uncle, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday June 30, 2015 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, June 29, 2015 from 4-8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
