Roberta A Barnes

By | June 16, 2015

On June 15, 2015 Roberta Ann (Waugh) Barnes went through the gates of heaven to be with the Lord after a long battle of cancer. She was an amazing mother, sister, and friend to many.

“Bert” as we all called her, was born on December 12th, 1972 in Southbend, Indiana to the late Robert “Bobby” Allen and Alka Lou Waugh.

She is survived by her fiancé of many years, Jimmy Kennedy of Athens, Ohio.

She is also survived by her loving children; daughter, Misti Dawn and Justin Ray George and unborn grandson of Canal Winchester, Ohio; two sons, Robert James and Cody Tyler Barnes and their father, Tim Barnes all of Athens, Ohio.

Also surviving her are two sisters and a brother, who all adored her: sister, Tammy Waugh (Doug Merrill); nephews, Aaron and Nick Merrill; and a sweet and loving great-niece, Baylee Merrill all of Jackson, Ohio; sister, Bobbie Jo Waugh (Mike Merrill); nieces, Brittany Waugh and Bethany Holsinger, all of Wellston, Ohio; brother, Chris Matthews (Mel); nieces and nephew, Alex, Emma, and Victoria Matthews, all of Wellston, Ohio.

She was also survived by special people, Tammy Exline and Tiara Waugh as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding her in death was grandparents, Gladys (Sis) Collins and Robert and Alice Gibson; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Bert was such a fun person to be around. She made everyone laugh, but always said what was on her mind. She was a very blunt woman (which she took after her grandmother, Gladys Collins). She will be dearly missed, but the memories will live on forever. Before she passed on, she prayed with the pastor and immediately went home to be with the Lord.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 11-1pm at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A funeral service will be held immediately after at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Coalton Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillumfuneralhomes.com
