Robert E. Jones

Robert E. Jones, 90, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 in Deltona, Florida. He was born in Wellston, Ohio to the late Homer and Edith Camink Jones.

A former Wellston resident, he was a Wellston High School graduate and a WWII army veteran. After retiring from 40 years with the B&O/Chessie System railroad, he and his wife built a home in and moved to Deltona, Florida. At this time he became an active member of the Presbyterian Church of DeBary, the Ohio Club, the organization of Hospital Auxilians, and the Model A’s of Greater Orlando. He was also a member of American Legion Post #371 of Wellston.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Ponn and Phyllis Miller, and by four brothers-in-law, Richard Newvahner, Rex Jolly, Louis Taylor, and Richard Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Helen Jacobs Jones; a daughter, Lisa (Nick) Bova, of Dublin, Ohio; a son, Stephen (Michelle) Jones, and a granddaughter, Samantha Jones, of Westerville, Ohio; and brothers and sisters, Eleanor Jolly, Herbert Jones, Marilyn Taylor, Florace Morrow, Marcella Newvahner, and Richard Jones.

Memorial services for Robert will be Saturday, May 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston with John Pelletier CLP officiating, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.

Private burial with military honor services by the American Legion Post #371 of Wellston were held at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston under the direction of the Jenkins Funeral Chapel.
